Tanger Outlets in Rehoboth Beach will close its stores at 2 p.m. Friday, June 5.
A planned protest against police brutality is planned for 4 p.m. on the sidewalk in front of the Rehoboth Exxon station, adjacent to Tanger Outlets Bayside.
Tanger Outlets Rehoboth announced the early closure on the company’s Facebook page.
General Manager Amy Norgate said, the early closing is out of an abundance of caution due to the risk of public protests.
“The safety and well-being of our guests, the employees of our retail-partners, and Tanger employees is our top priority,” she said. “Tanger understands that there are feelings of injustice in our society and, as an organization, are committed to inclusion and fairness to everyone. We believe all people should be treated with dignity and respect.”
Melissa Jaffe, spokeswoman for Delaware State Police said there will be a heavy police presence during the protest.
