Tattoo parlors are completely sanitized

May 22, 2020

Our small business has been denied consideration as an exception to continued closure and won’t be permitted to reopen with restrictions in place to protect workers, clients and our community.

Our studio is sanitized between visits to a high medical standard required by the health department. We work with the Delaware health department with regular inspections and maintain a sterile tattoo experience. We practice a number of precautions daily to protect you and our artists including cross-contamination and annual bloodborne pathogens certification from the American Red Cross, the use of disposable gloves, needles, tubes, protective films and barriers, and cleaning before and after with medical- grade Madacide.

We go a step further than health department regulation with standard proceedures such as disposable bed sheets, disposable pillow cases on hospital-grade pillows, and barrier films on all items in close proximity to the tattoo procedure. Anything used during the tattoo procedure (tubes, needles, etc.) is one-time use and disposable.

We have two artists in our large space (one is co-owner with over a decade of experience in the profession). Each has their own private room 30 feet apart. We can thrive on appointment-only tattoo business and close our doors to walk-in traffic requesting same-day appointments. We have prepared to hold art consultations virtually via Zoom so that clients only need to visit for their actual tattoo appointment date. Each artist can operate successfully with only one or two scheduled clients daily.

We will insist artists wear masks and require to have our clients wear masks as well. We have hand sanitizer available in our lobby; however, frequent, thorough hand washing is part of our daily routine and we urge clients to do the same. Our studio has three handwashing stations available.

Hair salons are in the same personal service industry as tattoo studios, yet they are permitted to open (with mask use only when practical!) while tattoo artists continue to lose their livlihoods and watch personal and commercial debts stack up. Please help us spread the word.
