TD Bank to celebrate opening energy-efficient store May 19

To celebrate its newest retail store in Rehoboth Beach, TD Bank will host a community grand opening celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, May 19, at the new store at 34980 Midway Outlet Drive.

The new TD Bank store will target LEED Gold certification based on its overall environmental performance in six areas: the use of a sustainable site, low water usage, energy efficiency, the use of recycled materials, its indoor environmental air quality, and its innovation and design.

To manage the new store and its 10 to 15 employees that are hired locally, TD Bank has tapped Christopher Wiggins for the job. As store manager, he will be responsible for new business development, consumer lending, and managing personnel and day-to-day operations.

Wiggins comes to TD Bank from several positions in the financial and banking industry, including most recently as business banking officer at Citizens Bank. He has teller, marketing analyst and store management experience. A graduate of the University of Delaware, he is active in the local food bank through his church.

Wiggins, a resident of Long Neck, grew up in Newark and lived in Philadelphia, Pa., and Wilmington prior to his current residence.

Entire families - including pets - are invited to participate at the grand opening celebration, which is free and open to the public and will feature a free hot dog cart, ice cream cart, bagged snacks and soft drinks, DJ and balloon artist. There will be games and prizes, including a chance to win a $1,000 shopping spree.

Hourly drawings for $100 TD Bank Visa gift cards come at 11 a.m., noon, 1 p.m. and 2 p.m., with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at noon.

TD was named Best Regional Bank/East in Money magazine’s Best Banks 2011 list. The list recognized TD Bank for its convenient hours and low bar to free checking.

The lobby hours of the new TD Bank in Rehoboth Beach will be 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (drive-thru 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.) Monday through Wednesday; 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. (drive-thru 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.),Thursday and Friday; 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. (drive-thru opens 8 a.m.), Saturday; and noon to 4 p.m., Sunday.
