Tecola Y. Edwards McClain, owned custodial service
Tecola Yvonne Edwards McClain was born in Lovett, Fla., Tuesday, March 10, 1936, to the late Homer and Eliza Edwards. God called home one of his angels Tuesday, April 12, 2016, to be with Him.
Tecola attended and graduated from Washington High School in Quitman, Ga., in 1956.
She met and married the love of her life, the late Thomas McClain, and to this union they were blessed with two children: Thomas McClain Jr. and Frances McClain-Johnson.
She was a lifetime member of Friendship Baptist Church where she served as a member of the Janie F. Smith Missionary Society and served as their treasurer. She was a past worthy matron of Queen Elizabeth Chapter #13, Order of the Eastern Star, Prince Hall Affiliation of Milton, currently serving as treasurer. She was also a member of the Daughters of Isis. She owned and operated McClain Custodial Service. She was very active in her community where she was loved and respected by all.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas McClain; parents, Homer and Eliza Edwards; one brother, Thomas Edwards; two sisters: Homer L. Adams and Mae Edna Whitfield; one sister-in-law, Annie Parker; three brothers-in-law, Carlton Davis, Charlie Bembry and Eddie Turner; and four nephews, Henry Davis, Johnny Butler, Phillip Parker and Eddie Turner Jr.
Tecola leaves to cherish her memories two loving children: Thomas McClain Jr. and Frances (Dion Sr.) Johnson; five grandchildren: Noah, Alexander and Olivia McClain and Dion Jr. and Jayden Johnson; three brothers, the Rev. George (Ardeth) of Milton, Billy C. (Geneva) Edwards of Lewes, and Willie James (Bernice) Milton; two sisters, Mary L. Turner of Milton and Geneva Bembry of Abbeville, La.; one sister-in-law, Doris Murray of Beaufort, N.C.; special friends Lorraine Smith, Elizabeth Ball and Rebecca Bowden; and a host of nieces and nephews.
There will be a viewing tonight, April 15 from 6 to 8 p.m., with the Eastern Star service beginning at 7 p.m., at Friendship Baptist Church, 500 W. 4th St., Lewes. The Celebration of Life service will be Saturday, April 16, at noon at the church, with a viewing two hours prior.
