Thankful for excellent orthopaedic care at Beebe

March 7, 2023

A few weeks ago, I had my right knee replaced by Wilson Choy, MD, and I am writing today about the wonderful experience and care I received every step of the way at Beebe Healthcare.

I know Dr. Choy and his wife since we attend the same church, and several of my close friends have been his ongoing patients. I’ve also teased him throughout the last few years, asking him to save a spot for me because I anticipated that I would eventually need his services. He always smiled, so I took that as agreed.

Well, then it happened. I found myself in need of Dr. Choy’s services and a new knee after a fall last year.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Choy and his staff, a professional and competent team of orthopedic-focused care providers. I never had a moment’s hesitation about the care I was and would be receiving. Every bit of my surgery was fully explained to me, and I was excited to know that I would be operated on at Beebe’s new Specialty Surgical Hospital. Before the facility opened, I had had the privilege of touring it, so I was aware of its state-of-the-art systems and devices. I had absolutely no worries.

I also cannot say enough good things about the surgery itself and the nursing care I received during my stay. Everything was excellent. The facility made me feel as though I was staying at a Marriott hotel. The nursing and physical therapy staff members were beyond attentive and caring, and I would like to thank them all, including David Mackenzie, MD; Stephen Fanto, MD; Adam Sokolowski, SRNA; Jennifer Hazzard, PA; Stephanie Brown, RN; Christina O’Neill-Pederson, RN; Dana Pisapia, RN; Dawn Roach, RN; Rachel Smith, RN; Renee Veasey, RN; Rebecca Walker, RN; Dorothy Daisey, CNA; Jessica Glass, PTA; Timothy Marvel, PT; Virginia (Katy) Ordway, CPhT; and Erika Kalb, discharge planner.

I did stay overnight to make sure I was comfortable, and felt competent with basic movements and the medical devices I was being sent home with. I almost didn’t want to leave my hotel experience.

When I was discharged, I felt fantastic. I knew I would be able to manage myself with the instructions I was given, and my recovery continued with Beebe’s Home Care physical therapy. My heart is overjoyed, and my body is recovering wonderfully thanks to all of the excellent care I received at Beebe. Soon I will be up and running my Sea Shell Shop store again, back to my work with St. Vincent de Paul Society and even back to yoga. I might even be able to squeeze in a trip to Maui before the summer routine starts.

Thanks so much to everyone involved in my care before, during and after surgery. And I am ever so proud to count myself among the supporters who make this incredible quality of care possible right at our doorsteps. Thanks again to Beebe and Dr. Choy for bringing me back to great health. I feel very grateful and blessed.
