Tharros Village thankful for support

December 9, 2025

As Tharros Village concludes its 2025 season, we wish to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Cape Gazette readership and the greater Sussex County community. This summer, Tharros Village remained steadfast in its commitment to serving our local homeless population by providing shelter, food, clean water, sanitation, clothing, medical services, case management and much more. Our mission would not have been possible without the partnership, care and concern demonstrated by so many.

We are deeply appreciative of the support from both state and county authorities, whose guidance and resources have been integral to our operations. Our volunteer network, faith communities and a host of local organizations have shown unwavering dedication, generosity and compassion for our neighbors experiencing homelessness.

We would like to acknowledge and sincerely thank everyone involved in serving the needs of the homeless throughout Sussex County. A special shoutout goes to the following organizations for their extraordinary generosity and support:

  • State and county agencies that provided critical funding and logistical assistance
  • Local churches and faith groups whose volunteers consistently showed up to serve meals, offer comfort and build relationships
  • Nonprofit partners who contributed supplies, expertise and advocacy
  • Community businesses that donated food, clothing and essential goods
  • Medical professionals who volunteered their time and skills to care for those in need
  • Individual donors and volunteers who gave their time, talents and resources.

Thanks to this remarkable network of support, Tharros Village was able to meet the immediate needs of our homeless neighbors, offer pathways to stability and foster hope for a better future. We are honored to be part of such a caring and collaborative community, and we look forward to continuing this vital work together with our planned reopening of Tharros Village March 15, 2026.
