Then as now, public health important in Delaware

November 17, 2020

At the Kent and Sussex Fair in Harrington in July 1932, the Delaware Board of Public Health set up a booth dedicated to dental hygiene as part of its ongoing mission of promoting sound health practices for the state’s general population. This booth gave parents a chance to have their children examined and receive information about steps that could be taken to improve oral hygiene.

Just as the state is involved now with public health in an unprecedented fashion due to COVID-19, so too was it involved almost 100 years ago as evidenced by this photograph. The Kent and Sussex Fair eventually evolved into the Delaware State Fair that continues each July in Harrington.
