City of Rehoboth Beach commissioner candidate Rachel Macha looks like a qualified candidate, but I fail to see how she can be an effective city commissioner. By her own admission, she is a Florida resident. That requires her not spending more than 183 days per year in Delaware. As the wife of a former commissioner, I know it’s virtually a full-time job. There are at a minimum two commissioner meetings a month (almost always more) and commissioners are required to chair a special committee as well. Flying in from Florida is not the same as driving in from Washington, D.C., or Philadelphia to attend meetings and events, interact with citizens, etc. I'm sure she has the best of intentions, but clearly she is not the best choice for City of Rehoboth commissioner when we have better alternatives.
