Thomas Louis DeEmedio, loved his family

Thomas “Tom” Louis DeEmedio, 76, passed away peacefully at his home Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026, with his wife, Cindy, and sons, Matt and Mike, by his side. Tom was born in Allentown, Pa., May 11, 1949, the oldest child of Louis and Doris DeEmedio. He graduated from Brandywine High School and University of Delaware, where he met Cindy. They were married in 1972 and raised two sons in Newark.

Tom was employed by Topkis Associates and J.P. Donnelly Co. Inc., and also helped run the family business, Mr. C. Shops/The Nook, in Wilmington and Newark for many years.

Tom was an active member and treasurer of both Newark Country Club and the Società da Vinci.

Tom and Cindy moved to Lewes full time in 2011. Tom spent many happy hours playing golf, fishing, cooking, and enjoying his favorite food, a hot dog.

Tom loved his family deeply, and nothing gave him more joy than having his family and grandchildren together, whether on vacation or at his home in Lewes. Tom is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cindy; sons Matt DeEmedio of Millsboro, and Mike DeEmedio of Santa Fe, N.M.; daughter-in-law Amanda Perez of Santa Fe; grandchildren, Alex Rose, Nick, Arlo and Sonny DeEmedio; siblings, Nancy Coupe of Wilmington, Ronald DeEmedio of Newark, Kathy Quinn (Bob) of Lewes, and John DeEmedio (Liz) of Boynton Beach, Fla.; sisters-in-law, Sandy Willoughby of Glen Mills, Pa., and Maribeth Livingston (Scott) of Reisterstown, Md.; along with numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by many dear, lifelong friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 13, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Hwy., Lewes. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m.
