The Rehoboth Art League will hold its 70th Annual Cottage Tour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday, July 9 and 10.
The Cottage Tour committee has worked for several months to present this year’s selection of seven homes in the Rehoboth Beach area. Each home on this year’s two-day, self-paced tour has distinctive characteristics brought together through landscape, interior, artwork and architectural design. Some homes have quite a history, and many homeowners showcase memories and collections in unique ways.
The art league’s historic Peter Marsh Homestead will be transformed with furnishings and décor by tour underwriter J. Conn Scott. Richard Scott, Lisa Scott and Steve Bendyna will blend modern furnishings and decorations to complement the historical design with the current exhibition throughout the first floor of the Homestead. In previous years, this has ranged from a white, slipcovered cottage look to a more colorful turquoise theme, and has some years included outdoor dining arrangements with elaborate tablescapes. Each year’s Homestead presentation is a special surprise.
The tour ticket is a commemorative program booklet with an image and description of each home on the tour. Tickets are $35 per person, and attendance is appropriate for ages 13 and above.
For more information or to purchase tickets, go to www.rehobothartleague.org or call 302-227-8408. Available after Thursday, June 20, booklets can be picked up at the art league’s Henlopen Acres campus, 12 Dodds Lane. Tickets purchased on the RAL website and by phone must be picked up at RAL.
Tickets will also be available after June 20 at the following locations: in Rehoboth Beach at Bellinger’s Jewelers, Browseabout Books, DÉCOR, Farmer Girl Exotic Gardens, J. Conn Scott Showhouse, Windsor’s Flowers & Plants; in Fenwick Island at Carolina Street; in Lewes at Community Bank of Delaware and Lewes Gourmet; and in Bethany Beach at Sea Needles. Tour tickets are also available the day of the tour at any of the homes, based on availability, and at the Rehoboth Art League.
This year, parking is very limited at several of the house locations. Free parking will be available at the Rehoboth Beach Plaza/Bay Mart parking lot just behind Bin 66 on the Forgotten Mile between Rehoboth and Dewey Beach, from which the art league will provide Jolly Trolley transportation for Cottage Tour ticket holders. Shuttle service will begin running at 9:45 a.m. and continue until tour ending each day.
The Cottage Tour of Art is underwritten by J. Conn Scott, and sponsored by Boardwalk Builders and Echelon Custom Homes.
