Tom Arkinson was sworn in Oct. 9 as the seventh and newest member of Milton Town Council.
A longtime member of Milton Community Foundation, Arkinson was appointed by Mayor John Collier Sept. 11 to fill the remaining two years left on the term of former Councilwoman Annette Babich, who resigned in July. The seat will be up for election in 2025.
Arkinson was sworn in by magistrate Jack Hudson, flanked by Barbara Fleetwood holding the Bible. Fleetwood’s involvement was important for Arkinson as it was Fleetwood’s late husband, former Councilman Charlie Fleetwood, who got Arkinson involved in public service.
