Too much money!

November 9, 2018

Bryce Harper and Manny Machado are the two biggest free agents available in the MLB this off-season. Supposedly, the Phillies may be one of the possible destinations for these two outstanding players. I will obviously be very happy if one of them becomes a Phillie, but I am surprised to hear that this is even a remote possibility.

The big-name players usually go to teams that are closer to being in contention than the Phillies are right now. The salary, even for one player, would be ridiculous. Bryce Harper is rumored to be going after $300 million over 10 years. These salary expectations are getting out of control. No athlete, in any sport, should command this kind of money.

The Philadelphia Eagles got some help from the Atlanta Falcons last week, when the Falcons defeated the Washington Redskins in a surprise win. Because of the Falcons winning, the Eagles can regain a share of first place if they win this week at home in the Sunday Night Football game against the Dallas Cowboys. Let’s hope the Eagles can beat Dallas because they have to play the New Orleans Saints next weekend. That game will be a tough one, with the Saints having won their last seven games, making them one of the best in the entire league.

While the Eagles were on a bye week this past week, they traded for a very good player. They were able to get Golden Tate, the former wide receiver from the Detroit Lions. This acquisition should really help the Eagles passing game. This move could actually help the team get a surprise win over Saints.
