Tornadoes touch down in Dover, Sandtown and Smyrna

Tornadoes touched down in Dover, Sandtown and Smyrna Aug. 4 as Tropical Storm Isaias moved across Delaware.

The Delaware Electric Cooperative announced that 14,000 members are without power across Kent and Sussex Counties as a result of the storm. “All crews are responding. There is a lot of damage across our system. Outages will likely last hours and potentially much longer,” the cooperative posted.

According to Sussex County Pulse Point, wires are down at Misty Lane in Lewes; Sandy Brae near Lewes; Possum Point in Millsboro; County Seat Highway in Georgetown; Indian Mission Road and Beaver Dam Road; and Route 1 near Bethany Beach.
