On March 8 and 9, the Touch of Italy in Rehoboth Beach was transformed into an Italian Street Fair. Food and wine from Italy's five culinary regions were featured, along with Sussex County specialties such as The Rehoboth Foodie’s famous fried chicken, Dogfish Head beer and nitro-infused coffee from The Point Coffee House.
Live auctions included $4,000 worth of fine wine, a wheelbarrow-full of Dogfish Head beer, an all-expenses-paid wine weekend on the beach in OC (with a $300 bottle of wine donated by Teller Wines) and a 3-restaurant progressive dinner - with a limo! - donated by SoDel Concepts.
The auctions and the Carnevale! event all benefit the nonprofit Touch of Italy/RehobothFoodie.com Culinary Scholarship Fund. In order to help alleviate the shortage of qualified kitchen personnel available to Cape Region restaurants, Touch of Italy and RehobothFoodie.com have teamed up to provide tuition assistance to qualified Sussex County high school graduates who wish to further their education at accredited culinary schools.
