Trailer catches fire near Best Ace Hardware

May 24, 2011

A trailer caught fire near the intersection of Route 9 and Route 1 behind the Best Ace Hardware store, Tuesday, May 24.

The trailer was hitched to a white construction truck. The truck and its occupants appeared to be unharmed as flames engulfed the trailer. Sussex County Chief Deputy Fire Marshal Randy Lee said the trailer contained straw and was smoking when it was coming down the road before pulling over near the hardware store.

Crews from Lewes Volunteer Fire Department responded to the blaze, which was under control about 1:30 p.m.
