Trinity Faith Christian Center celebrates Fourth of July

Car show revs up crowd

The Trinity Faith Christian Center held its annual Fourth of July celebration and car show July 2 on New Road in Lewes.

Music, free food, kids’ games and a cool classic car show brought crowds out to celebrate the holiday.

Multicultural and multi-denominational attendees have enjoyed 26 years of this event that serves the community. The event is a vision of Bishop A.D. Jones Jr. that focuses on serving hospitality and providing a wonderful, relaxed, non-competitive showmanship atmosphere in a safe environment for all.

More than 35 cars took part in the annual event. Participants came from New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania. 

Car show winners include:

• Best in show - Alfred Hudson, 2015 Corvette

• Best sports car - Bryan Clark, 2022 BMW Z4

• Best Pro-Street - Anthony Jones, 1968 Camaro

• Pro-Street First - Chuck Hall, 1970 Chevy G10 pickup

• Pro-Street Second - Cliff Smith, 1939 Plymouth pickup

• Best Antique - Gino Jamison, 1929 Ford Model A

• Best Classic - Sandy Flandina, 1956 Chevy Nomad Bel Air wagon

• Best Ford - Edward Reese Sr., 1951 Ford

• Best Chevy - John Horris, 2011 Chevy SS Camaro

• Best Pickup - Grady Chandler, 1963 VW pickup

• Most Unique - Quinn Stoops, 1935 General golf tractor.

 

Dan has worked for the Cape Gazette for more than 30 years as a photographer and reporter, covering high school sports and happenings around eastern Sussex County. He won a photography award from the National Newspaper Association, and numerous awards from the Maryland, Delaware, D.C. Press Association. A Delaware native, Dan graduated from Cape in 1972 and returned as a teacher and coach in the 1980s. He retired from the classroom in 2016. He was inducted into Cape High’s Legends Stadium in 2016. In his spare time, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, grandchildren and dogs.
