Two face gun charges following Bridgeville traffic stop
A Millsboro man and a Seaford woman face gun charges following a traffic stop Aug. 12 in Bridgeville.
Police on patrol about 9:30 p.m. pulled over a Dodge Charger in connection with not properly stopping at the Coverdale Road and Hastings Farm Road stop sign. Then, they noticed two handguns in the vehicle, police said.
The loaded handguns were on the back-seat floorboard, police said, and they detained the driver, Faythe Wise, 28, and passenger, Derrick Edwards, 31.
Both were taken without incident to Troop 5 and charged with carrying a concealed firearm and second-degree conspiracy. Wise also faces charges for traffic offenses. She was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and released on her own recognizance.
Edwards, who is a convicted felon and prohibited from possessing a firearm and/or ammunition, was found to be in violation of an active protection from abuse order. He was also charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession of ammunition by a person prohibited, and criminal contempt of a domestic violence protection order.
He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and released on a $16,500 unsecured bond.
