Unity of Rehoboth to host burning bowl ceremony Dec. 30

December 27, 2018

Unity of Rehoboth Beach, a spiritual community, will bridge the old year with the new during its annual burning bowl ceremony at 10 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 30. Located at 98 Rudder Road, Suite 1-A, Millsboro, Unity welcomes people of all faiths, lifestyles and interests to welcome 2019 in a sacred way.

“It's a very meaningful ceremony,” said spiritual leader Sandy Souder. “Before you make new year’s resolutions, it's a good idea to release what no longer serves you and might inhibit your success. We’ll write down what we want to release on flash paper and watch it go up almost instantly in flames. It’s very exciting to see! When that’s done, we’ll share a guided meditation to help us capture our dreams for the new year, and we’ll use paper and an envelope to write a letter to ourselves about what we want to create in our lives in 2019.”

Souder said this letter goes into a self-addressed envelope and will be mailed to each participant in early summer. “It’s amazing how useful it is to be reminded of your goals and objectives mid-year, instead of remembering them at the end of the year when it’s time to make resolutions again. People experience much more success when they receive the reminder in the middle of the year – and they really love the getting the letter in the mail,” she said.
