Veterans Resource Center collects food donations for local vets and community

The Veterans Resource Center at the Delaware Tech Owens Campus in Georgetown recently accepted food donations for local veterans and organizations. Nonperishable food items were collected around campus, at the Making Spirits Bright fundraising event and through a donation from Sussex Academy.

Sussex Academy's seventh-grade Everest Team students collected and prepared 22 bags of food for the residents of Home of the Brave Foundation in Lincoln. Bags were delivered to the veterans in late November. They also helped collect several boxes of nonperishable food items and over $200 to assist the Delaware Tech Veterans Resource Center food drive which supports local veterans and their families.

Additional food baskets will be donated to Home of the Brave, Greater Milford Boys & Girls Club, student veterans and other local veterans.
