The roof of the Milton Public Library building can be seen in this photograph, as well as the steeple of today’s Lydia B. Cannon Museum of the Milton Historical Society.
Stores visible in this photograph include Samuel’s Department Store, Collins Clothes, Milton Hardware and Furniture Co. and Herb’s Taxi.
This photograph was taken during Milton’s Sesquincentennial (150th anniversary) Celebration in August 1957. The town had parking meters back then.
The film playing at the Milton Theatre that particular week was “Written on the Wind” starring Rock Hudson, Lauren Bacall, Robert Stack and Dorothy Malone.
