Winners of the WRDE-TV jingles contest were announced at the eighth annual Vine and Vessels Christian Writers Conference held recently in Georgetown. First prize of $100 was presented to Mary Emma Tisinger of Dover. Second prize of $50 was presented to Betty Lewes Kasperski of Georgetown; and third prize of $25 went to Lisa Faulkner of Magnolia.
The jingle contest was sponsored by Bob Backman, owner of NBC's WRDE Coast TV, and contest rules specified that the jingle entry must be 15 or 30 seconds in length and in singable poem form.
Tisinger's first place jingle is “Step into gear/and start your day here/where the sun and the sand meet the sea!/For the latest in news, weather and sports,/make it—marvelous Delmarva's/Coastal WRDE-TV!”
Tisinger's first book of nostalgic poetry and prose, “Through the Leaves that Fall,” was recently released. Betty Kasperski is the author of “Severed Yet Whole.” To purchase these books, go to www.amazon.com. Both books were published by the award-winning Fruitbearer Publishing LLC in Georgetown.
The conference was co-hosted by members from three Sussex County Christian writers' groups: Vine and Vessels Christian Writers Fellowship of Seaford, Delmarva Christian Writers' Fellowship of Georgetown and Kingdom Writers Fellowship of Seaford.
