Lewes Base Ball Club will continue its season Saturday, Aug. 24, against the Rising Sun Base Ball Club and the Elkton Eclipse Base Ball Club. In a three-team format, the first pitch will be at 11:30 a.m. in a match game between Lewes and Rising Sun. At 1 p.m., a match between Elkton and Rising Sun will take place, and at 2:30 p.m., Lewes will square off against Elkton. The games will be played on the field at the Villages of Five Points near the intersection of East Edgemoor Street and Old Orchard Road, Lewes.
The Lewes Base Ball Club plays by 1864 rules, which include balls being caught on one bounce for an out, no fielding gloves in use, and other fun, historically accurate, 19th century rules of America’s pastime. The games are free, and spectators are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket.
A variety of food trucks will be on site, and Lewes Base Ball Club merchandise will also be available for purchase.
