Virgil V. Bullis Sr., accomplished Realtor

Virgil V. Bullis Sr., 65, of Dagsboro, went home to be with the Lord Friday, June 2, 2017.

Virgil was born in Salisbury, Md., Dec. 20, 1951, son of the late Clincle and Juanita (Beauchamp) Bullis. He graduated from James M. Bennett High School in 1970.

In 1977, Virgil started his career in real estate with John F. Kleinstuber and Associates in Fenwick Island. He eventually opened Bullis Realty in 1980, became a broker in 1982 and was currently employed by Seashore Realty Inc. in Fenwick Island. Virgil had over 40 years of experience in the real estate business, and also had several accomplishments in his field. He was the Sussex County Realtor of the Year and also served as the president of the Sussex County Board of Realtors in 1990. He was the State Realtor of the Year in 1994, served as the president of the Delaware Association of Realtors in 1996 and won the Omega Award from the National Association of Realtors in 1998. Virgil was proud to be a Delaware Certified Real Estate Instructor and taught continuing education credits at Del Tech until his health started to decline. The enthusiasm and passion he had for his industry was infectious.

As his boys were growing up, he served as a Little League umpire, a Cubmaster with the Boy Scouts and also worked with the youth at Bethel Tabernacle Church in Clarksville in the late ‘80s. Virgil also enjoyed dining out at various restaurants in the community and playing Santa Claus during the Christmas season.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Lanice Bullis, Charles Lee Bullis and Sherry Bradley. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Pamela (Barnes) Bullis; three sons, Virgil V. Bullis Jr. and his wife Tammy of Frankford, Michael Bullis and his wife Traci of Millsboro, and Dean Peoples and his wife Tracy of Roxana. He is also survived by a brother, Richard Bullis of Dagsboro; a sister, Mary Ellen Hill of Salisbury, Md.; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, June 8, at the Ocean View Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, 38040 Muddy Neck Road, Ocean View, where friends and family may visit after 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Mariner's Bethel Cemetery in Ocean View.
