Virtual Cooking for a Cause benefits Food Bank students March 31

March 19, 2023

A unique virtual cooking class at 6 p.m., Friday, March 31, will support scholarships for Food Bank of Delaware culinary training programs.

Paul Cullen, a renowned chef, sommelier, guitarist and former Bad Company bassist, will provide step-by-step instructions on how to create a full gourmet meal in the comfort of one’s own kitchen. The evening is as casual or formal as participants wish to make it. Hundreds of fellow foodies will be virtually cooking and dining together.

“I am so honored to be a part of this amazing fundraising event! The Food Bank of Delaware is an incredible organization which focuses on feeding the community and gives them hope,” Cullen said.

Food Bank of Delaware President and CEO Cathy Kanefsky is also looking forward to participating in this culinary experience. “This is one of those times when everyone wins. How often do you get to create a delicious meal guided by a chef, enjoy that meal at home – and contribute to a workforce development program scholarship?” she said.

Tickets are $100 for a meal that serves two. The event menu features Paul’s Tuscan spread, mushroom and sausage risotto, and raspberry-ricotta mousse for dessert, plus Cullen’s wine, a private Italian label.

Ticket holders will pick up their ingredient/meal boxes from noon to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 30, or from 9 a.m. to noon, Friday, at one of three locations: near Lewes at Paul’s Kitchen and Cullen-ary Company, 32882 Cedar Grove Road; in Milford at the Food Bank pantry, 140 Mullet Run, Unit E, west of the 120 Mullet Run site; or in Newark at the Food Bank Café, 222 Lake Drive.

The class link will remain live through Sunday, April 2.
