The Alzheimer’s Association invites Sussex County residents to join its Walk to End Alzheimer’s at 9 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand on Rehoboth Avenue at the Boardwalk.
On walk day, participants honor those affected by Alzheimer’s with the poignant promise garden ceremony, a mission-focused experience that signifies solidarity in the fight against the disease. The colors of the promise garden flowers represent people’s connection to Alzheimer’s and their personal reasons to end the disease.
"Walk to End Alzheimer's is a true community event which brings together – in the name of hope and courage – Delawareans who are living with the disease, those who are providing care and support, people who have lost someone, and passionate advocates working toward a future without dementia," said Rob Macklin, Rehoboth Beach Walk to End Alzheimer's manager. "We invite everyone to register, fundraise and come out to support this important event in the name of Alzheimer's care, support and research."
More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease, a leading cause of death in the United States. Also, more than 11 million family members and friends provide care to people living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
The walk will adhere to health recommendations in place at the time. To register and receive the latest updates on this year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s, go to act.alz.org/rehobothbeach.
The 2022 Rehoboth Beach Walk to End Alzheimer’s is supported by dedicated sponsors including Always Best Care, AmeriHealth Caritas Delaware, Mountaire and The Lodges of Coastal Delaware.
