Walter L. Littleton, DuPont Co. retiree

March 11, 2021

Walter L. Littleton, 93, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, March 10, 2021. Known as Jimmy or Skeeter to many, Walter was born Dec. 11, 1927, in Pennsauken, N.J., to the late John F. Littleton and Lillian Strohmeyer Littleton. Walter was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Hilda Long Littleton, with whom he shared 63 blessed years prior to her death in 2015.

After retiring from Dupont with 30 years of service, Walter had many adventures that took him across the country throughout his life; marrying his sweetheart in New Mexico, fishing in Alaska, and living the snowbird life in Florida for a few years are just a few of those adventures. Through the years, Walter was always an avid outdoorsman and an animal lover. Walter would happily share his passion for both with anybody around him but especially his grandsons.

Walter is survived by his children, Frank Littleton and Rae (Steve) Hawley; his grandchildren, Shane (Danielle) Marvel and Evan (Jessica) Marvel; and three great-grandchildren, Evan Jr., Ethan and Julie Marvel.

The family would like to extend their extreme gratitude to Walter’s selfless, loving and dedicated caretakers, JoNelle, Liz, Becky, and Alexis, for loving Walter and treating him as their own family.

A memorial service to celebrate Walter’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 15, at the Dagsboro Church of Christ, 28001 Dagsboro Road, Dagsboro, where friends and family may gather after 10 a.m. COVID-19 social distancing must be practiced and face masks must be worn at all times.

Internment will be held privately for the family at Mariner’s Bethel Cemetery in Ocean View.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions in “Skeeter’s” name be made to the Due to Dagsboro Church of Christ at the above address.
