We can’t say thank you enough to CrossFit Lewes

July 7, 2015

On behalf of the People’s Place executive director, board members, and staff, I am writing to express our sincere thanks for the outstanding fundraiser CrossFit Lewes hosted May 17. The CrossFit Lewes Share the Pain 3 competition/fundraiser raised more than $47,000 for the People’s Place SAFE Program which services domestic violence victims and their children.

The SAFE Program (Shelter, Advocacy, Freedom & Empowerment) provides emergency shelter to domestic violence victims, operates a 24-hour hotline, and assists survivors with many other services and resources in both Sussex and Kent counties. The money raised from this year’s Share the Pain will be used to assist women and children who are transitioning into safe homes of their own. Expenses such as first month’s rent, utility deposits, childcare, car repairs, gas cards and other vital needs will now be available to help these families.

We would like to applaud the CrossFit Lewes fundraising committee and CrossFit Lewes members for the hard work and dedication they put in to making this such a great fundraiser. The committee put hours into obtaining sponsorships, holding several pre-event functions, and planning not only a successful day, but a fun one as well. Share the Pain committee members who made this happen were Kris Carper, Owner of CrossFit Lewes, Craig Klasic, CrossFit Lewes Trainer, and CrossFit Lewes members, Chip Thompson, Stephanie Kichline, and Marcey Rezac.

We also appreciate the generosity of this year’s corporate sponsors. Share the Pain would not be possible without them. This year’s Hero Sponsors were; Kids Cottage and Atlantic Theaters. Other significant sponsorships were received from Schell Brothers, i.g. Burton, Atlantic Transportation, Anderson Flooring, Bella Terra Landscaping, and Community Bank Delaware. We would also like to thank sponsors; The Big Chill Cantina, The Starboard, County Bank, Cape Gazette, Lewes Auto Mall, Satterfield and Ryan, Beebe Healthcare, Lewes Meineke, Orthopaedic Associates of Southern Delaware, State Farm Insurance agents, Jeanine O’Donnell and Matt Basile, Bling Salon & Spa, the Delaware Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Hurlock Real Estate, Therapy at the Beach, eRevolution Ventures, and Millman Appliances.

Again, People’s Place is extremely thankful for the support of CrossFit Lewes members, their friends and families, their partnership with our SAFE Program, and their commitment to help domestic violence survivors and their families in our community.
