Westown Theater and MOT Film Society donate to Breast Cancer Coalition

March 30, 2015

The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition recently announced that the Westown Movie Theater of Middletown and MOT Film Society are partners in the fight against breast cancer. Through a classic movie fundraiser held March 8, they raised and donated $1,750 to the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition. DBCC serves nearly 6,000 women and men a year in Delaware.

The classic movie shown was “The Wizard of Oz,” which was presented twice at the theater March 8 at a cost of $5 per person. Proceeds of the ticket sales were donated to DBCC, and both showings were packed. Proceeds and turnout exceeded expectations, and the generous donation of $1,750 was gratefully accepted by DBCC staff.

The funding will help increase breast cancer awareness, promote the importance of early detection, provide access to mammograms and bilingual health navigators, and deliver support and resources to women and men who have been diagnosed with breast cancer in Delaware.

Lois Wilkinson, education and survivorship program manager at the coalition, said, “I have enjoyed working with Westown Movies and MOT Film Society, and I look forward to working with them again. We really appreciate being one of the six nonprofits that they chose to be part of the classic movie fundraiser.”
