The Delaware White-line Woodcut Guild will host a free reception for A Cut Above, an exhibition of works by artists in the collective, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 1, in the Lewes Public Library lobby, 111 Adams Ave., Lewes.
The public is invited to attend and learn about this uniquely American art form with historic ties to the Rehoboth Art League. The artists will be present to discuss their images. The technique is a marriage of woodcarving and watercolor painting in the form of an image carved on wood and then transferred to paper.
Guild members displaying their art will include Anne Barney, Michele Bartley, Lisa Bain, Bob Cumming, Deborah Dircks, Fred Dylla, Howard Eberle, Jann Gilmore, Mark Harris, Mary Holland, Theresa Kehrer, Arlene Matzkin, Don Matzkin, Lindley McGrew, Lorraine Quinn, Sherry Sherwood, Leslie Snowdon-Jones, Meris Sparrow and Lori Swift.
The Delaware White-line Woodcut Guild was formed six years ago and meets weekly to share art and techniques, and to create woodblock prints. Throughout the year, guild founder Fred Dylla offers introductory white-line woodcut workshops in Lewes and other locations, as well as advanced workshops for guild members to enhance their knowledge and skills.
The exhibit will remain on display through Saturday, Nov. 29.
