Wibergart Gallery to host open house Nov. 22
The Wibergart Gallery is joining with other galleries at 20 Baltimore Ave. in Rehoboth Beach to celebrate the holidays with an open house from 2 to 6 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 22.
The gallery will feature Jack Wiberg signing reproductions of his painting “The Great Race.” The painting depicts an event recorded in the book “The Greyhounds of the Sea,” in which the clipper ships Sea Witch, Typhoon and Raven raced from New England to San Francisco with cargo for use in the Gold Rush.
After a series of tacking duels up the West Coast, the first to arrive in San Francisco, in November 1851, was the Typhoon, although technically the Raven won the race by making the trip in fewer days. The Typhoon, being first into port, got the best price for its cargo. The painting is done on quality paper using the finest inks and is offered at a very affordable price for collectors and gift givers during the holidays.
This open house is going to be a special event in The Galleries at 20 Baltimore Avenue, with a variety of gifts, jewelry, collectibles, miniature paintings and other art work available. Holiday refreshments will be offered to encourage visiting with artists and other art lovers.
