Winter gala to warm Dewey Beach Feb. 22

January 24, 2020

The Dewey Business Partnership will host its annual winter gala at 8 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 22, at the newly opened Lighthouse Cove Event Center in Dewey Beach.

The intersectional party brings people together for a single event for all to enjoy. From local business owners to property owners, town employees and commissioners, everyone in Dewey comes together to volunteer time and resources for a grand occasion.

A decade ago, Steve “Monty” Montgomery, owner of the Starboard Restaurant, started the winter gala as a snazzy way to come together in celebration during the shoulder season and raise money for town projects. Of course, being the true Dewey townie that he is, he quickly merged his gala with the Dewey Business Partnership to involve more businesses and expand his initial vision. Today, he's gotten the all the businesses that represent the local Dewey Business Partnership involved.

Montgomery said, “There is nothing that makes me happier than partying with a purpose and bringing people together. The gala is another way we do that, so get your fancy dresses and suits out, and come party with us!”

The Starboard and Starboard Raw, Woody's, Grotto Pizza, Hammerheads, Nalu, Dewey Beer Company, Gary's, Sirvida, Mezcali and of course the host venue, the Hyatt Place lighthouse and event center, all participate in providing food and drink to make this an extremely well-rounded event. Entertainment this year is loaded, with the evening starting with Paul Ruggerio's Blue Cat Blues Band, the ever-popular Amish Outlaws, and finally, Dewey's favorite: Kristen and the Noise!

The theme this year is Vegas, and Dewey Business Partnership’s Kelly Ranieri will use that inspiration to create dazzling decor. Purchasing a ticket to the winter gala not only guarantees admission to the party of the year, it also benefits the town directly by supporting the police department, lifeguards and beautification projects. Just 300 tickets remain, and they are expected to sell out quickly.

Tickets are $90. To purchase tickets, go to eventbrite.com and search Dewey Winter Gala 2020.
