A New York woman died Sept. 15 following a two-vehicle crash on Route 113 north of Georgetown.
The crash happened about 12:30 p.m. when Beckie Morales, 49, from the Bronx was driving a Nissan Altima southbound on Route 113, approaching the intersection at Redden Road. At the same time, police said, a Cambridge, Md., man, 76, driving a Mack Anthem truck pulling an empty grain trailer was stopped northbound, intending to turn left onto Redden Road, but he failed to yield the right of way and turned left through the crossover into the southbound lanes. As it did, police said, the Nissan struck the right side of the trailer.
Morales was wearing a seatbelt, but was pronounced dead at the scene.
The truck driver was also wearing a seatbelt and not injured.
The roadway was closed for about three and a half hours while members of the Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated and cleared the roadway.
