Work underway to add light to Route 9 at Minos Conaway Road

Completion expected by the end of October
September 11, 2023

Work is underway to add a traffic light at the intersection of Route 9 and Minos Conaway Road near Lewes. Delaware Department of Transportation Director of Community Relations Charles “CR” McLeod said crews began working on the infrastructure Aug. 28. Work is expected to continue until late October.

“As the work nears completion, we will share a specific date for when the signals will go live,” McLeod said.

Evaluating the need of a traffic signal at Route 9 and Minos Conaway Road was one of the recommendations of the Five Points Working Group. The intersection has been the site of several crashes, including a hit-and-run Christmas Eve last year that killed three people.
