The Delaware Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers will hold their 10th annual YF&R Strawberry Festival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, May 25, at Bobola Farm and Florist, 5268 Forrest Ave. in Dover.

More than 550 people enjoyed the strawberry festival last year, and the long-range forecast for May 25 couldn’t be better: sunny with temperatures in the mid-60s.
A $5 wristband allows unlimited fun zone access, which includes live music by the Captain Mike Band, a bounce house, petting zoo, barrel cart rides, face painting and more games than ever for the kids.

New this year are a wagon ride to the strawberry patch, the Delaware Farm Bureau Foundation’s mobile Ag Lab and an antique tractor to view.

Of course there will be strawberries, fresh, red-ripe, just picked or ready for U-pick. Concessions include fresh-smoked pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs and chips with homemade strawberry shortcake and strawberry ice cream for dessert, and beverage selections of soda, water or juice.

Proceeds go into YF&R’s general fund to promote leadership training, benefit community assistance, provide scholarships, and support the FFA and 4-H through the livestock auction at the Delaware State Fair.

The YF&R program is a committee of the Delaware Farm Bureau which dates back to 1954. It includes men and women ages 18 to 40 whose objective is to attract hardworking agricultural professionals and advocates through professional development and social networking activities, to empower future Delaware Farm Bureau leaders, and to increase interest in agriculture as a way of life.
