‘The Secret Garden’ musical to open in Milford July 11
Second Street Players announced performances for its summer musical, “The Secret Garden,” will take place Friday to Sunday, July 11 to 13 and July 18 to 20, at the Riverfront Theater, 2 S. Walnut St., Milford.
Based on the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, the enchanting classic of children's literature is reimagined by composer Lucy Simon and playwright Marsha Norman.
Directed by David Button and John H. Hulse, with musical direction by Gail Betton Kelso, Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7 p.m., and Sunday shows begin at 2 p.m.
Scarlett Gleason plays 10-year-old Mary Lennox, who is orphaned in India and returns to Yorkshire to live with an uncle she’s never met and his disabled son Colin, played by Benjamin Rose. The estate's many wonders include a magic garden that beckons the children with haunting melodies and provides the setting for this memorable tale of forgiveness and renewal.
