‘Adrift’ author Jill Hicks to appear July 12

Local author Jill Hicks will sign copies of her novel, "Adrift,” at 11 a.m., Sunday, July 12, at Browseabout Books in Rehoboth Beach.

Hicks' skillful use of first-person narrative and dialogue engages her readers in the personal lives of her characters, some lovable and some not so much.

"Adrift” captures the romantic atmosphere of finding adventure on a sandbar. The novel follows the journey of Carly Young Mariner, a devoted wife, mother and second-grade teacher who walks in on an encounter that upends her ordinary life.

Shortly after her arrival, a minor accident transforms her and those around her. The entanglements create snares she never saw coming. Her heart is caught in a tug-of-war of lust and love, right and wrong, now or never.
