‘Broadway Dreams’ concert to benefit Delaware Womenade June 26
Actress and soprano Rachel Zatcoff will headline a concert featuring favorite Broadway tunes and hidden gems at 7 p.m., Thursday, June 26, at Epworth United Methodist Church, 19285 Holland Glade Road, north of Rehoboth Beach.
Proceeds from Broadway Dreams: A Night with Rachel Zatcoff will benefit Delaware Womenade, a charity led and founded by Rachel’s mother, Bethany Beach resident Teresa Zatcoff, to support survivors fleeing from abusive relationships.
Rachel Zatcoff has graced stages from New York to London, with starring roles in “Phantom of the Opera,” “West Side Story” and “Fiddler on the Roof” in Yiddish, directed by Joel Grey. On stage, Zatcoff will be accompanied by pianist Doug Yetter, and joined by vocalists Jacey Brittingham, Elena Capiro and Taylor Costanzo.
A co-founder of Clear Space Theatre Company, Yetter is minister of music at Epworth, and artistic director of the 100-voice CAMP Rehoboth Chorus. Brittingham, who has performed professionally in New York, serves as director of development for the Milton Theatre. A young Lewes resident, Capiro is part of the Milton Theatre’s musical theatre ensemble. A native of Rehoboth and current New York City resident, Costanzo is a classical vocalist and student of Zatcoff’s.
Delaware Womenade is part of a national grassroots movement of giving circles, with women helping women. The Delaware chapter focuses on People’s Place 2 in Milford, which offers shelter, counseling services and other support for women and children fleeing domestic abuse. Over the years, Delaware Womenade has helped renovate three shelters run by People’s Place 2, purchased a new van for the organization and made in-kind donations as needed.
Zatcoff said she designed the June 26 concert program with a goal of including some female composers whose works reflect hope, resilience and strength.
