‘Deadwood’ author to speak at Lewes Public Library Oct. 23
Peter Cozzens, author of “Deadwood: Gold, Guns, and Greed in the American West,” will appear at 5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 23, for a book discussion and signing at Lewes Public Library, 111 Adams Ave., Lewes, and online via Zoom.
Joining Cozzens in conversation will be Ronald Collins, Lewes Public Library distinguished lecturer and co-founder of the History Book Festival. "Peter Cozzens brings cinematic drama, informed by impressive original research, to tell the Deadwood story as never before,” said Collins. “Powerful, reliable and memorable, he skillfully weaves the plight of the Lakota Indians into the narrative quilt of swindlers, saloon workers, gun slingers and cattle rustlers, all drawn together in the Black Hills town of South Dakota.”
Registration is required, and participants will be asked to select in-person or online attendance. Visit tinyurl.com/AuthorEventsLPL or call 302-645-2733 to sign up.
Peter Cozzens is the author or editor of 18 acclaimed books on the American Civil War and the American Indian Wars. In 2002, he was awarded the American Foreign Service Association’s highest honor, the William R. Rivkin Award, given annually to one foreign service officer for exemplary moral courage, integrity and creative dissent.
