‘Fonda on Film’ author to speak at Lewes library April 28
Journalist Nelson Pressley, author of “Fonda on Film: The Political Movies of Jane Fonda” will take part in a book signing and discussion at 5 p.m., Tuesday, April 28, at the Lewes Public Library, 111 Adams Ave., Lewes, and online via Zoom.
“Fonda on Film” explores iconic activist-artist Jane Fonda’s journey bridging the gap between the streets and the screen. Fonda broke through as the perky newlywed of “Barefoot in the Park,” the sci-fi pinup “Barbarella” and the Oscar-winning star of “Klute.” Then she earned her activist stripes with the Vietnam vets’ Winter Soldier hearings and her alt-USO F.T.A. tour. By the mid-1970s, she had transformed into a singular star on an unparalleled moviemaking mission.
Pressley will be interviewed by Shelby Cooke, film critic and programmer at the Cinema Art Theater.
Registration is required, and participants will be asked to select in-person or online attendance. To sign up, go to tinyurl.com/AuthorEventsLPL or call 302-645-2733.
