‘Shakespeare, Poe and Fiends’ performance from Del Shakes set Oct. 24

October 17, 2025

Delaware Shakespeare will return to Lewes for an evening of spooky stories and enchanting music at 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 24, at the Lewes Elementary School auditorium, 820 Savannah Road, Lewes.

Presented by the Lewes Public Library Spoken Word Society and Coastal Concerts, the event will feature Del Shakes artists performing a blend of scenes, prose and poetry from Shakespeare, Edgar Allan Poe and some Gothic contemporaries, with musical selections interspersed. Sophisticated yet appropriate for all audiences, the show will conclude with a reading of Poe’s classic “The Raven.”

“Delaware Shakespeare is the very best ensemble in the region for this type of reading,” said David White, Spoken Word Society volunteer artistic director. “First-rate professional actors with exciting new musical accompaniment bring these powerful texts to life for an exciting evening of spooky fun.”

Registration is required. To reserve a seat for the free performance, visit tinyurl.com/SWSFall2025 or call the library at 302-645-2733.
