New Year Splurge

My husband loves chocolate, but we don’t keep it around any more, poor guy. “Out of sight, out of mind” works for me, but not for him. All the sensible reasons to avoid chocolate—high saturated fat, sugar overload, empty calories—just intensify his longing to sink his teeth into sweet rich dark chocolate. The only thing preventing him from sneaking chocolate bars into the house is their milk and butterfat content which we’ve eliminated for the last 7 years along with all other animal products. Unfortunately for my husband, that includes avoiding most forms of chocolate.

But all is not lost. We’ve recently discovered ENJOY LIFE dark chocolate dairy-free morsels. Now we can make our own bars for that rare treat. So today we splurge!

Here’s our secret NEW YEAR SPLURGE recipe:

1 9-oz bag ENJOY LIFE dark chocolate dairy-free morsels, 1/2 pound toasted whole almonds (optional).

Line 3 loaf pans with parchment paper and spread 1/3 bag chocolate morsels in each for melting in warm oven. Next spread melted chocolate, then sprinkle toasted almonds on top and spread chocolate to cover. Refrigerate containers until bars are hardened. Wrap for safe keeping if you can!

Good luck and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
