Precarious Positioning

The neighboring milkweed field provides a food source for the caterpillar which then attaches its body to in this case a piece of peeling bark on a river birch tree, and creates this amazing jewel like pendant. In about ten days the Monarch butterfly will emerge. I am amazed by the little gold dots and when I look REALLY close, it is actually 3 levels of color. Yay nature!
