Summer League Results

 

The division returned from the 4th of July break and the Tides continued their winning ways with a 2-0 win over the Guards. Both goals were scored by Olivia Balback, one in each half of the game. In the other division game, Madori Torres scored the winning goal in the opening quarter for the Dunes and then their defense held off the Waves for the remainder of the game.

With one game remaining in the regular season, the standings are as follows. The first round of the playoffs will begin on Wednesday, July 15th at Delmarva Christian School.

In the senior division, the Seahawks opened play with a 2-0 shutout of the Artics. Ashley Kennedy got the winning goal at 2:28 in the first quarter and Maggie Mitchell added an insurance goal at 8:16 of the second quarter. A strong defensive effort by Maddie Sekscinski, Elise Westbrook and Chloe Whittaker kept the Artics from breaking though in the scoring column.

In the second game, the Bengals defeated the Pumas by a final of 4-0. Bella Sharp scored at 6:19 in the first quarter and Rylie Cordrey then scored at 8:54 in the second quarter for the 2-0 lead at half. Ella Peterson scored at 6:56 in the fourth quarter and the remaining goal was scored at 3:59 but the scorer’s name was not registered in the scorebook in time for this article.

In the final game of the evening, the Baffins and Corals played to a 2-2 result. Teagan McCord got the Baffins off to a 1-0 lead with her goal at 1:12 in the opening quarter. After the halftime break Amanda Fruman and Avery Congleton scored for the Corals to give the Corals a short-lived lead. Abby Kane scored at 1:57 remaining in the 3rdquarter to tie the game. Both teams defenses took over in the 4th quarter and limited and shots on goal.

The regular season concludes with a pair of game for each team during the week of July 13th and the top two teams will play in the championship on Monday, July 20th at Delmarva Christian School.
