Zen Gardening in Miniature

I think I learned about terrariums when I was in elementary school, probably from my favorite fourth grade teacher Mrs. Lank. She did all the cool stuff & most things I recall today are from her class. Like how to remember where the i & e go in friend- yup every time I spell it I think of the very day I learned it.

The terrariums I remember were a delicate balance and of wet & humidity. Enclosed plants doing their thing.

Terrariums are back, and they are remarkable. They have little people and creatures living in a scene. Succulents and ferns poke out from fancy glass globes. It has become a fascinating meditation for some folks I know. Very zen.

  • Photography grounds me and elates me. I am inspired by nature and its perfection. I see things that compel me to take a photograph, things that are ordinary, or small and go unseen by others. This is my purpose as a visual story teller. See my work in the Beach Paper and the Cape Gazette, or visit my website denyhoweth.com.
