Daydreams of tulips come true In Lewes

April 7, 2016

My wish of winning some green in the Lewes Tulip Photo Contest didn't come true, but a far more important daydream became a reality - beautiful tulips are sprouting all around the Cape Region! When I dropped my Baby Tulip photo off at the Lewes Chamber of Commerce in late March, early bloomers had already arrived.

My favorite were these yellow tulips that were planted in memory of Eleanor "Nana" Wright. The garden plaque reads that she was the spirit of Christmas year-round. Even though I am not a fan of the snow flurries the North Pole sent us this April, she seems like someone I would have liked to know.

Despite the weather forecast, I am excited to photograph the flowers that are in bloom now for this weekend's Lewes Tulip Festival! And of course, peruse all the pretty photos from my fellow flower photographers in a tent beside Zwaanendael Museum until Saturday, April 9. Congratulations to the winners: Keith Steck with “Dockside Tulips” for first place, Sue Keller with “Luminescence” for second place and Chet Poslusny with “Petal Passion” for third place.

Aquariann enjoys watching petals grow much more than paint dry. That's why she's a flower photographer and illustrator instead of a painter. She welcomes all artists to join her weekly Flower Friday hop to share their pretty pictures on her other blog, the art and tree chatter of aquariann.
