Fund for Women brings in 15 new founders at fashion show
During the sixth annual Fashion, Fun and Philanthropy Show at the Atlantic Sands Hotel and Conference Center in Rehoboth April 10, 15 new founders joined the Fund for Women. New Founders include Judy Aliquo, Denise Bridgens, Donna Brockstedt, Estelle Ciarlone, Ginny Dollise, Esther Downes, Kerri Fox, Alyssa Harmke, Bonnie May, Vanessa Megee, Linda Miniscalco, Josephine Oliva, Sandra Roberts, Doris Rogers and Juanita Wilson.
During the fashion show, models strutted down the runway to the music from three movies. Over 150 women attended this popular event. Models for the show included founders Ann Bailey, Lesslee Belmore, Linda D’Aloisio, Peggy Dolby, Cheryl Doucette, Sheila Fooks, Katie Harmke, Carolyn Newcott, Marylee Phillips, Kathy Pizzadili, Evie Slater, Laura Slater, Marty Tarr and Emily Yeager.
Fashions were provided by Cleo’s, Candlelight Bridal, Coolspring Cottage, Twila Farrell, Simply Dressed, Lady Fenwick, Deanna’s and Piccolino. Hair and make-up were provided by Bad Hair Day, Mary Kay Cosmetics, and Bling Salon & Spa. Raffles were provided by participating boutiques.
Speakers for the event were Rosa Rivera, chief operating officer for the La Red Health Center; Suzanne Feaster, chair of the Fund for Women Grants Committee; Michele Whetzel, FFW Board of Trustees chair; and Carolyn Strum, chair of the Development Committee in Sussex County.
The Fund for Women is an endowment at the Delaware Community Foundation whose mission is to provide funding to enhance the worth and potential of women and girls in Delaware by bringing together the collective philanthropic power of women. The Fund, currently holding over $3.2 million, has awarded over $2.3 million in grants since 1993. Grant awards have supported programs relating to women’s health, wellness, and life skills that lead to future self-sufficiency.
The Fund for Women in Sussex County has made great strides in growing the endowment fund for women and girls in Delaware by significantly increasing its membership. This year’s grants will be awarded on May 12 at the Duncan Center in Dover.
