Two Lewes firemen run Stop, Drop and Run 5K in full gear

The second annual Stop, Drop and Run 5K was staged at the Lewes Fire Station on Savannah Road April 30, attracting 80 runners. The weather was good for running, 52 degrees and cloudy.

Geoff Snavely from Annapolis, Md., won the race in 19:42, followed by Justin Veillon in 20:11, Hans Stamberg in 20:24, John Blackford in 20:32 and Moiber Rivera in 21:04.

The top five women were Barbara Stamberg in 24:13, Jan Saeger in 25:15, Lesley Kroon in 25:22, Jackie Quigley in 25:58 and Eugenija King in 26:54.

Robert Stephens of the fire department ran the race in full gear in a time of 26:56, then ran back out on the course and escorted fellow fireman Michael Flaherty to the finish line in 32:54.
