Barbara J. West, devoted to grandchildren

Barbara J. West, 76, of Millsboro passed away Thursday, May 5, 2011.

She was born March 18, 1935 in Georgetown to the late Joseph and Mary Sammons Holson.  In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband Floyd E. West in 1994.

Barbara vaccinated chickens for many years, owning her own vaccination crew. She loved and was devoted to her grandchildren.  She loved to paint pictures, watch TV, going to yard sales, gardening and was an excellent cook.

She is survived by three children, Deborah Cantwell and her husband John of Millsboro, Bill Betts and his wife Jennie of Laurel and Alan Betts and his wife Denise of Millsboro; four stepchildren, Ronald West and his wife Linda of Georgetown, Wayne West and his wife Pat of Dagsboro, Sandra Wells of Millsboro and Vickie Chandler and her husband Bill of Millsboro; five siblings, Josephine Swain, Patsy Payne, Mary Beth Adams, Norma Holson and Joseph Holson Jr; 14 grandchildren, Ted Snyder III, Tara Snyder, Courtney Betts, Barbie Wilson, Richard Betts, Bill Betts Jr., Bryan Blake, Mike Wells, Dana Wells, Pam Webb, Wayne West Jr., Brad West, Rhonda Turner and Jamie Chandler, 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 11, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St, Millsboro, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Pastor Rob Welsh of Blackwater Fellowship Church will officiate the service.  Burial will follow in Millsboro Cemetery, Millsboro.
