Beebe Home Care named to Top 500 of 2016 HomeCare Elite

December 23, 2016

Beebe Healthcare Home Care Services has been named to the Top 500 of the 2016 HomeCare Elite, a recognition of the top-performing home health agencies in the United States. For more than 10 years, HomeCare Elite has annually identified the top 25 percent of agencies and highlights the top 100 and top 500 agencies overall.

The ranking is developed by Ability Network, an information technology company helping providers and payers simplify the administrative and clinical complexities of healthcare; and sponsored by Decision Health, publisher of Home Health Line, The Complete Home Health ICD-10-CM Diagnosis Coding Manual and The Home Health Coding Center.

"Improving quality of care and the patient experience continues to underpin a rapidly evolving healthcare environment," said Christine Lang, senior director, product management, for Ability Network. "At the same time, tracking, measuring and interpreting data that support these efforts is becoming more complex. The 2016 HomeCare Elite winners have demonstrated the highest-quality care in their communities, which is a remarkable achievement. We congratulate Beebe Healthcare Home Care on being one of the top 500 home care agencies in the country."

Dana Warrington RN, director of Beebe Home Care Services, credits the staff's commitment to excellence and its compassion for patients and their families for Beebe's ability to achieve recognition as one of the HomeCare Elite. "I can honestly say that the staff truly love what they do each and every day, and will accept nothing less than providing the very best care to those we serve in the community," she said. "We are honored to have received this award for five consecutive years."

Beebe Home Care Services is accredited by the Joint Commission and has been serving Sussex County since 1985 with a goal of supporting patients in living their best lives at home. It serves patients throughout Sussex County, as well as those physicians have referred. It has more than 70 specialized employees including nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, licensed clinical social workers and other health professionals.

The organization provides comprehensive health and wellness services, many of which use the latest technologies. A remote, telehealth program is used to assist medical professionals as they monitor, manage and educate clients with chronic diseases, such as high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, diabetes and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The medical professionals also educate clients who have had heart surgery.

In addition, Beebe Home Care provides skilled care for other post-acute needs including post-operative care following joint replacement or fracture and other surgical procedures, wound care, infusion therapy, tube feedings, catheter care, ostomy care, pain management, medication management and patient and family education related to all aspects of care to promote independence.

As an expansion in expertise, Beebe Home Care's Krista Brazell, APRN, FNP-BC, Beebe's post-acute care/congestive heart failure nurse practitioner, oversees implementation of care protocols designed specifically for clients who have congestive heart failure, including visiting them herself. She also is heading up outreach and education efforts to local skilled nursing facilities.

Winners are ranked by an analysis of publicly available performance measures in quality outcomes, best practice (process measure) implementation, patient experience (Home Health CAHPS), quality improvement and consistency, and financial performance. In order to be considered, an agency must be Medicare-certified and have data for at least one outcome in Home Health Compare. Out of 9,406 agencies considered, 2,353 are recognized on the 2016 HomeCare Elite winners list overall.
