William F. Wood, retired postal worker
William F. Wood, 95, of Ocean View, formerly of Kensington, Md., passed away Monday, Dec. 26, 2016, at his home.
He was born in Washington, D.C., Sept. 6, 1921, son of the late John S. and Nonie (Davis) Wood. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Wood retired as a maintenance superintendent with the United States Postal Service after 30 years of service in Silver Spring, Md. He was a lifetime member of the Mason Dixon VFW Post 7234 in Ocean View.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bettye L. Wood in 2014. He is survived by three sons, William Timothy Wood of Rehoboth Beach, Dennis Craig Wood of West Palm Beach, Fla., and David Wayne Wood of Fairmont, W.Va.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 4, in the chapel of the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in William's name to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
